This St Augustine Florida Sand Encaustic painting “Middle of Nowhere” was created on a 12x12x1 artist wood board. This Artwork was created with St Augustine sand and shells with over 15 layers of encaustic wax. The depth in this painting creates pockets of shell ponds within the ocean scene. The sides of this artwork have been painted with white acrylic paint. This painting comes with steel hanger on back, ready to be hung on the wall.
Encaustic artwork is made by melting beeswax to a liquid, adding pigments, and using it as paint. This art medium dates to the Egyptian era. When it cools/hardens the artwork has so much texture and life.
